Day 487 - Sep 28, 2009

Well, Kevin is back in the hospital. Last night he just started screaming in pain and no matter what we did it couldn't be managed. We did a battery of tests today and so far they haven't found a reason.

We were worried about infection, but there is no evidence whatsoever of any and I can only hope it stays that way. If he does have an infection - everything will have to come out - including the plate in his head. That will take us back to the beginning and I just can't imagine going back to that time.

Anyway, I am writing very early because we are on a floor of the hospital that has no internet so I can't say when I will be back to post.

Breezy will let anyone know if something comes up until I come back over to the guest house to shower tomorrow.

Keep Kevin in your thoughts...

We r always sending Kevin good thoughts. Maybe he needs supervision and time 2 heal after an operation. A boat ride can wait. Did the doctor allow all of this activity and being out around germs so soon? The poor kid. What a bummer 2 maybe have 2 go thru this again. Hang in there. We r thinking of u all.

Thinking of you today and every day. I hope things are figured out and resolved quickly.

And for what it's worth...I would never second guess you. And even though I don't know you, I'll answer the Anonymous poster before me by reminding him/her that you would never jeopardize Kevin's recovery for a boat ride or anything else for that matter.

Sending prayers this pain is figured out...and resolved. Hugs.

I'll be keeping Kevin in my thoughts and prayers tonight. Hope it was just a brief setback and that he's feeling better and you can both get some rest. Take care.

Could he have stayed at the hospital after surgery or did they make you be discharged so soon ? With insurances now as they are, seems like you have major surgery in the morning and you are out the same day.

Could you get a sitter for him so you could go out if you are bored ? Possibly the VA would provide this.

Let's hope tomorrow brings some relief from Kevin's pain and they figure out what is causing him problems. Praying for good news in the a.m.

Oh man. Saying extra prayers for all of you. For all of your strength while waiting to see what the cause is. Saying prayers that it's "nothing" and is manageable without starting over. God be with you Leslie, stay strong, we're all out here thinking of you, praying for you, and sending you massive amounts of hugs over the wire.

To Anonymous who posted at 12:46. Please read more of this blog before making ignorant and insensitive comments.

Leslie has explained over and over all kinds of problems with "sitters" as well as all the problems with staying longer in the hospitals.

If you think you know so much about what's right for her and Kevin, at least have the courtesy to read their side of the complete story before offering suggestions. I suggest that when you want to "help" someone that you say something like this:

Leslie, you and Kevin are in our thoughts and we hope and pray for the best outcome in the soonest possible moment. God be with you.

I WAS SO SADDENED TO HEAR KEVIN IS IN SO MUCH PAIN ONCE AGAIN AND I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE STRESS YOU & BREEZY ARE IN = SEEMS LIKE EVERY TIME YOU TURN A CORNER, A SET BACK OCCURS ... I ALSO COULDN'T HELP WONDERING IF THERE WAS A PRESSURE BUILD UP FROM BEING DOWN IN THE BOAT AND RISING AGAIN TO THE SURFACE ... SORT OF LIKE GETTING THE BENDS OR WHATEVER IT IS THAT DIVERS SOMETIMES GET ... HOWEVER, I ALSO THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH HE WAS ENJOYING HIS POOL AT HOME WITH NO SET BACKS ... WHO CAN KNOW ... I KNOW THAT YOU ONLY WANT THE BEST FOR YOUR SON, AS ANY OF US WOULD ... BUT, PERHAPS HE WILL HAVE LIMITATIONS ON THE THINGS HE CAN DO ... TBI IS SO DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH, ONE MINUTE SOMETHING WORKS AND THE NEXT IT BECOMES DISASTER ... KEVINS COURAGE AND DETERMINATION HAS BEEN UNBELIEVEABLE [ YOURS AS WELL] ... SO I DO PRAY FOR HIS SAKE & YOURS, THAT THINGS ARE BETTER ALREADY TODAY ... WHAT I WOULDN'T GIVE TO TURN BACK TIME & BRING ALL OUR TROOPS HOME SAFELY ... I WISH THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN TO ANY CHILD OR TO THE FAMILIES ... GOD TRULY MUST HAVE GREAT LOVE FOR ALL OF YOU ... I COULD NEVER HAVE DONE WHAT YOUR SON HAS DONE FOR HIS COUNTRY ... I AM SO PROUD OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE THAT STAND UP FOR WHAT THEY HAVE BELIEVED IN ... AND I RESPECT THE FAMILIES THAT DEAL WITH SUCH HORRIFIC OUTCOMES OF WAR ... MY HEART IS SO SORRY LESLIE & BREEZY ... BUT HOW PROUD YOU MUST BE OF THIS HERO, YOUR SON !!!
THANK HIM; THANK YOU ... I AM FREE BECAUSE OF YOUR SON, OUR MILITARY ... MAY GOD SHINE HIS LIGHT ON KEVIN TODAY, EVERY DAY ... MAY HE GIVE YOU CONTINUED WISDOM AND STRENGTH !!
