Day 203 - Dec 20, 2008

Not too much happened today. We drained another 300 CCs of fluid late this afternoon and then we took a nap (it is so exhausting). It was kinda too late to do anything by the time we woke up, so we just came down to the house and ate dinner.

We are very time limited. We can't leave the hospital until his head is drained so if the neurosurgeon doesn't come until late, we can't go anywhere. That's what happened today. Hopefully he comes earlier tomorrow.

Moving on, some of you asked me to set up a Paypal account for donations toward the house and I am giving it some thought. It's one thing to accept from an organization and another from single people. This is probably one of the hardest things for me to accept - having to pretty much live on donations. But I do know we honestly could not be here if if weren't for everyone helping us out financially. So give me a couple days to work this all out in my head and we'll go from there.

This is the first time I've been to this site and I have to say it's taken most of the evening to look through it. My son is going to Iraq soon and his brother left for Afghanistan today. This is like a parent's worst case scenario. My heart just breaks for you and your family and for all the other families and soldiers going through this.
I signed up for an angel network to write letters to the injured troops and have gotten 3 lists without writing. I just didn't know what to say. This week your link was on the email list and I am so overwhelmed with emotion. But, I now know what I need to write to our injured troops.
I have 3 kids with major disabilities but nothing can compare to what you are going through. My kids were born the way they are and we just went with it. This seems so much more painful to me.
Words can't even begin to express the love I have for your soldier and all of your family. I feel your pain and struggle and your blog has touched me so very deeply. I don't think I will ever be the same. Know that you have touched me deeply and I will share this blog and your message to everyone I can.
God bless you and give you strength. YOU are my hero.

"I do know we honestly could not be here if if weren't for everyone helping us out financially."

And I know that WE most definitely wouldn't be here if it weren't for soldiers like Kevin.

Leslie, I don't even know what to say that hasn't been said before... You are such a wonderful mother and your courage is astounding. God Bless you and your family.

OK..I don't comment often but I will today. About not wanting to take donations...Les, you are a friend and an encouragement to so many of these people, and they just want to return that blessing. Don't consider the money a donation...it is a love offering...because each and every one of us loves you and your family. Also think of it no differently than exchanging gifts at Christmas or birthdays...these people have a gift that they want to share with you. You have never asked for money...they just want to share what they have been blessed with. Some of us can't be there with you or even give you support on the phone or here, sharing our blessings of finance is just another way to be a friend to you. Think of it this way...we want to help you with the money we would spend to come see you..if we can. Remember by opening the paypal...you are not asking for anything...you are just giving your friends and family a safe and efficient way to send you a gift...and remember that..it is a gift. The gift giver is usually the one that is blessed more than the receiver. Think on this for a while!! (oh and by having the account, we would know our money was received, now we don't know until the check hits the bank)
And while I'm at it, Merry Christmas!!!
-Emily
P.S. Amen to the comment about we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for soldiers like Kevin. Kevin deserves every cent that is sent his way...he is a soldier and he is a hero...let us thank him for that!!

Leslie ~ Bravo to the last two posts. I could not say it any better. Paypal is an excellent option! Please consider it. And what the others have said is true...think of it as our way of saying "Thank you" in the best way we know how.

As we approach this season of Light and Joy I KNOW your mailbox will be overflowing, as it should be! Please give my love to Breezy and Kevin and a big hug to you.

Love,always.
