Day 145 - Oct 23, 2008

Kevin had a pretty rough night tonight. He was in so much pain that he was screaming, vomiting and thrashing about the bed. I believe he even passed out twice. It was hard - on all of us. Breezy was in shock and couldn't move. My heart was in my toes while I held his head up and Tracy just grabbed clean towels and vomit pans or whatever was needed. Chrissy and Drew were even there and they just stepped out of the room. It was horrible!

I don't even really know what happened. He was laughing and carrying on one minute and literally grabbed his head and started screaming the next. The intense pain lasted about 10 minutes and then he just lay in the darkened room for a good hour or so until we were able to get more pain meds to stay in him. I am likening the hour to a migraine, but there is no way for me to know for sure.

He finally did fall asleep and although I was going to stay the night up there, I did come home to catch some sleep. I am going to keep this post brief though as I am just exhausted.

Tomorrow I will show y'all some pics of Kevin standing up for the first time (strapped to a piece of equipment, of course). He did fantastic!

I have met some really nice military people who now come to your blog. For those who are still serving, it gives them hope. For those retired, it gives them a place to put their prayers for they have seen this in other wars.

It's hard for those of us to see you go through this but at the same time we know there are some who just could not. We are humbled and filled with pride to know you, if only through your blog.

Praying for all of you. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day.

Praying today is a better day. I wonder if Kevin could have the flu.

You certainly need prayers and more positive thoughts now more than ever...

Stay strong, or at least do your best. Your remind me of one of the very strong and determined pioneer women that you read great stories about.

I am so sorry you all had a rough night. What did the doctors say about what happened??? Hopefully today will be a better day for you all. Hang in there, stay strong and don't give up. You are amazing people.

Hang in there Kev. I wish I could take your pain away kiddo.

Here is for a better day today.
EXTRA healing and positive thoughts for Kevin.
EXTRA strength for Leslie and Breezy.
Safe thoughts for all military personnel and strength for their families.
EXTRA big hugs and love to all 3 of you!

I am so sorry for what Kevin has been going thru, along with you and your family the past couple days! I pray that things change for the better for all of you. Just remember, they say that God don't put more on your plate that you can handle! You are one strong willed family, and though it is hard...you can get past this and get on to better days! U will be in our thoughts and prayers back in Pennsylvania!!

Wow Les. Sorry Kevin had such a rough night. I really hope he is feeling better today.
I am sure you have a ton of emotions going on at this point and I really hope your per diem comes in soon and that will help ease some of your pain.
I know I ask this all the time, but is there anything I can do to help from here? Do they need help boxing up your stuff? I could help in the morning before work.
Please know all of you are in my prayers and I love ya.

Leslie,

Keep an eye out for a letter to come to Kevin at the hospital from Will Hayden. He is a very special person, a retired army Medic in the Korean & Vietnam war.

Leslie,
We pray that Kevin has better days soon. For your pay and benefits problems, I took the liberty of calling the Army Wounded Warrior Project advocate, Mr. Stephen Moten, and he believes that your per diem issue is straightened out. If you need further help and for Kevin's pay issues, his cell phone number is 813-549-9339. The other AW2 advocate at James A Haley is Mr. Peter Hansinger, 813-215-4688. Their office is in Building 42B Room B-104. Mr Haley and Mr Hansinger's mission is to help you work through your beureacratic issues so that you can concentrate on Kevin's recovery. There isn't much that they can't help you with. My cell phone number is 931-436-5663. I have lots more phone numbers and lots more names if you need them. God bless you.
