Day 747 - Jun 15, 2010

Yay! We made it to the movie! Kev did pretty well, but there were quite a few subtitles and I realized about halfway through the movie that Kevin couldn't read them. Duh! Once I did realize that he wasn't understanding, I started to lean over and read them to him. That really helped. Sometimes I am a little slow, lol.

And tonight Kevin is just frustrated and angry. He is in his room trying to turn over his mattress because his bed is just so uncomfortable. I honestly don't know why it is so flippin' hard to get a different mattress?! I just popped off another email to the case manager and here's hoping that this time - it works. I'm not holding my breath, but I am ready to just scream. Kevin, on the other hand, is screaming. He is in there screaming "HOW LONG? HOW LONG?" and he's just crying in frustration and it is really heartbreaking. This is the kind of crap that just burns me up! Seriously - how much more does the kid have to suffer?

And tomorrow we have a new aide coming. Joseph just didn't work out. It's a shame really, but it is what it is.

Ok, I just challenged Kevin to a game of Skipbo. Anything to get his mind out of his misery.

(OMG! I wrote this last night, hit the post button and walked away. I didn't realize there was an error! Sorry for alarming anyone!)

maybe if you record a soundbyte of Kevin's frustration and include it in your next email?

Glad it was only a technical glitch. The problem when you are so diligent and regular is that you are really missed when you go missing! ;-)

Yep, was wondering what may have been happening.

Glad you got to the movies! Keep on the case manager, Kevin shouldn't have to struggle to be comfortable in his bed.

Hi Leslie and Kevin,

Maybe you should record these types of things so when the comp. tester needs answers than you can show her that there are thing that Kevin does understands more than most expect expecially when he is be treated with a condesending attitude.

Well you may be slow but at least you got it. Glad to hear that Kevin enjoyed the movie.

Let Kevin know he is not the only one that has problems with his mattress, especially the turning it over by ones self.

I am so relieved there is nothing wrong. Checked for your post several times today and I really imagined there was some major event that kept you from posting. Am so glad you are okay.

The mattress situation - would adding one of those feather toppers help at all? The frustrating part will be if he gets another one and it's just as uncomfortable or am I not remembering why the mattress does not work? How about the patient advocate or mabe even the director of the hospital...the squeeky wheel always gets the oil. :)

Thinking about you and Kevin,
Hallie

Glad to hear that it was just a blog glitch!

That's a shame Kevin is still uncomfortable in his bed. I hope there's some news from the case manager today about that.

Darn, I'm sort of surprised to hear that Joseph didn't work out. It sounded like they were getting along really well. I'm crossing my fingers about the new aide.

I'm thinking of you guys and praying for you. Take care.
