Day 739 - Jun 7, 2010

So I guess Kevin is having his skin expanders put in on Thursday. I knew the surgery was tentatively scheduled for the 10th, but I never heard anything so I called the burn clinic today and found out it is on the schedule. Now we have to hurry and get all his pre-op testing done tomorrow. I don't know anything yet about how long he will be in the hospital, but we will probably get some answers tomorrow as we have an appt at the burn clinic in the early afternoon. I sure hope Kevin can handle all of the pre-op stuff at one time. I would prefer that they admit him a day early (unless this is an out-patient surgery?) to do all the blood work, scans, etc. This would give him a place to rest in between all of the tests, but I'm not sure if they will be willing to do that. I guess there's no harm in asking tomorrow though, right?

Leslie,
You would know better than anyone what Kevin needs and the need for rest between procedures. Of course, I would ask....Your instincts are right on.....
Hoping and praying all goes well tomorrow.

Hello Leslie & Kevin,

Yes!! Ask all they can do is tell you "NO".

Me. I would bring a quick blow-up/release air mattress with me so Kevin DOES have a place to stretch out to rest.

And ... if, they have the gall to tell you to move the air mattress just look at them and say to them tell that to Kevin if you have NO compassion.

REMEMBER. Where there is a will there is ALWAYS a way.

Glad to hear that Kevin has been able to get out a bit in the last few days. That's wonderful that after he was rested that he wanted to go back to the arcade!

I'll be praying for the pre-op concerns and for the surgery itself. It's kind of weird that they wouldn't call you to confirm the surgery! You and Kevin are in my thoughts and prayers every day, even when I'm unable to write. Take care.
