Day 297 - Mar 24, 2009

Something seems a little 'off' with Kevin the last few days. He keeps getting very dizzy and just 'strange' every now and again. Add to that the extreme mood swings and him complaining of blurry vision and I just feel something is wrong. I ended up going in today because Breezy was worried and I stressed that we need to figure out what is going on. It could just be an ear thing and then again it could just be the way it is. Anyway, hopefully they will actually do something and try to figure out what the problem is.

I have to admit that I have lost all faith in this hospital. I'm not going to go into all of it right now, but I feel that it is a very unsafe environment for someone in Kevin's position. Someone that is doing very well - but isn't quite all there mentally or physically.

So Michelle (our case manager) and I chatted today about us getting a 'real' apartment until the house is actually ours and ready for us to live in it. I think it's the best idea for us. We pretty much stay at the apartment most of the time anyway, but my dad is coming on Tuesday and it's just not big enough for my parents and us too. Kevin requires a lot of 'quiet' time also and when you add more people to the environment - it gets less and less quiet - no matter how hard you try to make it, kwim?

And now I am heading to bed. I still hurt a lot and sleep is so blissful...

They definitely should be looking into whatever is making Kevin feel 'off'. Maybe there is pressure in his ears or in his brain that is causing the dizziness and the blurred vision.

Has the shunt been functioning properly lately? I hope it has, we haven't heard any problems recently about it.

I hope that you are able to get a place to stay that will allow you guys to be out of the hospital situation while still being close enough in case of emergency. Kevin seems to do so well when he's out of the hospital...if I were him I would be sick and tired of it after all this time.

Feel better soon. I can't believe we're almost to Day 300.

Hi Leslie, Kev & Breezy,

Stopping by to let you all know that you're all in my thoughts and prayers each and every day.

Man, there is just so much wrong with what this hospital (and system) have put you and families in your position through. It's mindblowing, shameful and disgusting. At the very least, our wounded heroes and families should be treated like royalty. To "hope" they do something to figure out what's up with Kevin? OMG there are no nice words.

Sure hope you're feeling better today, and have been able to let your mind and body rest a bit! And saying extra prayers that they just do their jobs and get Kev the attention he needs. And deserves.

God bless you all, and extra loads of extra special angel hugs are always on their way to you.

Sure do hope you're feeling better, Leslie.

It's certainly disturbing to read Kevin is having these symptoms. Hope the shunt is functioning. This may sound silly, but it is allergy season. Is he affected by seaonal allergies? Even if he wasn't prior to the trauma, he may be now. Sinus trouble sounds much better than a shunt issue.

So sorry the hospital setting is inadequate. Hope you find a place that suits your needs.

Thoughts and prayers your way.

Are you leaving the hospital completely as of the lack of care or moving Kevin to an out patient stats?

Hope these recent problems are nothing serious and that you also feel better soon.

That's so discouraging how bad the situation is at the hospital. I'm praying that God will continue to protect Kevin from medical mistakes and poor judgment, etc. I hope he's doing better today and the dizziness has gone away.

I'm thinking of you all and praying for you. Take care and get your rest.
