Day 285 - Mar 12, 2009

Today was a really great day. We actually called in sick today, lol. Yep - we blew off everything to do with the hospital and stayed at the apartment most of the day. Breezy is leaving in the morning and we wanted to spend some family time together. So the kids putzed around while I ran tons of errands and then we met my niece Chrissy for dinner and then we headed back to the hospital at about 8:30 tonight.

Oh and one other thing - Kevin went and purchased a cell phone tonight. My techno geek is back, apparently. It was fun watching him with his iPod all day and even better watching him get his first phone call (it was me calling from the driver's seat while he was right behind me, lol - you would have grinned from ear to ear to see his eyes light up when he realized someone was calling him).

And Breezy is not heading back to PA tomorrow as planned. She is taking a detour for a couple of weeks and taking some time to decide what she really wants to do with her life. We talked for a long time tonight while packing up her room and I think it's best if she takes a break, goes somewhere neutral and makes a decision. Sure hope it works out for her.

And to end, I would like to ask that anyone who was/is GOOD friends with Kevin to please email me their phone numbers. My email is on the right side of the page. I am only asking for those that really are good friends and are willing to talk to Kevin even though his speech is just beginning to come back. He is up to maybe 30 words now, but he listens well and I think he could really use the friends. As mentioned before, I think he is very lonely and I look forward to getting the house and having his friends start to come and visit.

Hi Gang!

Sounds like things are going so great for everyone! Glad Kev is feeling good and enjoying the days. Glad you can get away from the hospital more often. That is definitely positive progress! And a cell phone?? How much more "normal" can you get?? LOL Kevin is making great strides and that is awesome!

Breezy - good luck on your trip and journey. I hope you figure everything out you need to. Stay safe, and please keep us updated.

Hope you all have another great day today!

Healing and positive thoughts for Kevin.
Strength and comfort for Leslie and Breezy.
Safe thoughts for all military personnel and strength for their families.
BIG HUGS AND ALL MY LOVE TO YOU ALL!!!

Prayers being lifted for Breezy and her decision making. It is a hard decision, but she needs happiness in her life, and only she knows where to find that. Whether it be FL, PA or elsewhere.
So great to here about "taking the day off" that is great! And hope you get a lot of response from HIS friends. How great that will be for him to hear their voices and remember the good ol' days. Remember he may not be talking too much, but maybe he will be able to text some..that is really "in" right now.
Have a great day!

We are very happy for you all. I told Josh about Kevin seeing the beer isle the other day and he said that sounds like Kammer! He had a good laugh. He is very excited about all the accomplishments that Kevin has made since he last saw him and he asked if you could tell him his army brother Josh says hi and is thinking about him.
Breezy I pray that you find the answers you are looking for.
Take care and sending lots of prayers all of your way

So glad that you all had a great day! I can just imagine Kevin's grin with his new cell phone. That he's reaching out to others is a such a positive sign that he's working through his depression. I hope his friends get the message and inundate him with calls of support!

It sounds like Breezy is struggling with her place in life right now. I'll be praying that God guides her way. It's a tough process, that's for sure.

I'm thinking of you all and praying for Kevin's continued progress and success. Take care!
