Day 1235 - Oct 17, 2011

We stayed home all day today. Johnnie and I worked on getting more of the garage organized so that we could pull the car in. It was so full of stuff that the car still wouldn't fit. Last night though, three cars in our neighborhood were broken into so it was imperative that we be able to pull the car in before they busted out one of our windows. I can be honest and say we don't keep anything valuable in the car, but still...you never know what they want.

Other than that, it was a boring day. Mostly they all are now, so I have decided to go down to 2 days a week in writing the blog. From here on out I will write on Sunday night (viewable Mon morning) and on Thursday night (viewable Friday morning). I know that many of you read daily, but there just isn't much to say anymore. Kevin is stable now and although things can still happen, it's not the norm anymore.

Understand that this was a hard decision to make. I have been rolling it around in my head for months now, but I didn't want to let any of you down and I wasn't sure if I could really 'let go' of writing daily. But if you have noticed, I have been skipping a lot lately - there just isn't much to say because life is settling down.

So, I am thinking my posts might be more substantial if it's not me sitting here trying to think of things to say. I am sorry if it hurts anyone's heart (like it's hurting mine right now and I keep thinking "no - don't do this!), but it really is a struggle to come up with things to say every day when we don't do anything exciting.

Anyway, to make it easier to follow, I created a 'follow by email' button that's on the top right of the blog. If you can remember to come and read on Mon and Fri - great! But if you would prefer to get an email when I post - go for it.

And last, I want to thank everyone once again for all the continued support and guidance. I have said it a million times that I couldn't have taken this journey without all of you and I really mean it. You guys all kept me going - especially during those really horrendous times. I have also made some FANTASTIC friends along the way via the blog and I really do thank (and appreciate) all of you!

So I guess I'll see y'all Friday morning!

Don't worry about the readers. We're all on here showing our support to you and your family. And if what you need is to not post as often, go for it! :) Do what you gotta do! Honestly, I think it's a great thing to have a little less excitement in your life to post about. You guys have had enough excitement for a few lifetimes! We're all still with you!

Aww, I'll miss your posts, it has become a morning routine for me. But it is wonderful that you have reached a near boring stage, after all that you went through. You have been an inspiration to all mothers and Kevin has inspired many soldiers. God bless you both!

After all these months it's great news that there isn't enough going on to warrant a daily post. Good for you, getting back to living a semi-ordinary life. Just know that we are still all out here thinking and praying about you and your family.

Although it has been a daily morning routine for me as well, I'm excited for you guys! Your lives keep improving and improving. This is one more step for you! We will miss your posts, but to come to a point where the days feel more normal and not crazy is wonderful! All of you have certainly had so much to deal with that it seems like a new path in the road now. This one doesn't have so many interuptions and hills. With settling down into a place where you have been meeting so many nice people and like where you live to not so many doctor visits is exciting! We continue to pray for all of you and wish you all the best! I'm so happy for you Leslie! For all of your family! :)
Kevin sure is a tough one!
Take care,
Kathy in IA

Actually I find it fantastic that life has calmed down enough that you don't have as much to say. I am one of the every morning readers. I will miss reading with my cup of coffe, but, that's ok. Don't worry about any of us, we will be here when you post. This has been a long journey, and I am so excited for your family to have some "normal time"

I echo the other responses in that I am glad life has calmed down a bit for you! I love reading your posts, but totally get not writing every day....especially when not much is going on (matter of fact. I don't get a chance to read every day anyhow, so twice a week to catch up is great!)

I totally agree with everyone else. I am so glad that you and Kevin have gotten to this point. I think this is what we all prayed for so many days ago...for him to beat the odds and be normal, with the ups and downs that all of us face. I'm sure there will be challenges in the future and bumps in the road, but you know we are here for you! This shouldn't be a job for you; it should be like an outlet for you, which I think you have used the blog to the purpose you started it for ( a good thing). I will miss your every day post but will keep up with you. Enjoy living and allowing Kevin to be himself! Sounds like he has been doing so good with the situation you are in now.
Hope you post when you visit PA! I still would like to get together with you two!!!
Thoughts and prayers,
Hallie

I hope stability with slow and steady progress stays the norm for a long time for Kevin. His story has captured the hearts of many people and the people that truly care will continue to read your blog. Please let Kevin know that there are many caring people that follow the site and we wish and pray for only the best for him. May God continue to Bless your family in positive was.

I've been expecting this for several months now.
There comes a point in the recovery of all that can be when it becomes "life as usual".
I am very happy that this is starting to become a "life as usual" time for Kevin and you.

Now is the time to stop and take a deep breath and find out if "life as usual" has a few adventure that Kevin and you can and will enjoy...camping, fishing, biking, and maybe just watching the clouds as the wind blows them into different shapes...
You know I do believe you and Kevin are at that stage that is known as "it's just another day in life". From my point of view...It's a good place to be.

Have fun ! Enjoy these your Blessings.

Miss Em

Like everyone else, I think this is a great sign. Hopefully you and Kevin will get busier with your social lives as you make more friends. And post whatever comes to mind. It can't be any more boring than my life. ;)

You all continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Take care.

I'm so happy for you guys that things are calming down. That's a great thing. I know it's hard to not want to still post everyday but now you can take that time it took you think of what to say and spend some "you" time. I can't wait to see what happens next with your family. I know having you around really helped us get through what we are dealing with.

I have noticed that you were not writing long posts as often, it is good news that things are becoming a "new normal" that make it unnecessary to post daily.

I learned a lot, both about your experiences but also, through my reactions to stuff you wrote, about myself. So, thanks for making this a public blog.

I think that your readers, so many of them, just want for you and your family to have a life that works for you, that brings you all ordinary joys of everyday life.

<3 I'll be here when you post and thinking of you even when you don't.

your big fan in Vancouver,

Karen
