Day 993 - Feb 16, 2011

We went to therapy today and when they asked Kevin about us going to Pennsylvania, he got really quiet. He pretty much refused to do any therapy after that, but the therapists were very understanding about the grieving process.

We decided to just leave as he wouldn't do anything and he didn't speak the whole way home and then he just went into his room to rest for a while.

He did come out of his room for dinner and then a rowdy game of UNO ensued. He was feeling better after that and sat and watched some TV for a while.

I think I am going to sign off and get the dishwasher loaded and go to bed though. Everyone else is already sleeping - even Kevin - so I should be too.

Good for Kevin. Somethings will be spoken about in their own time.

Grief is a difficult thing, especially when you don't have many outlets to show/talk about it.

Leslie, I can't remember if you said that you had thought about art as a way for Kevin to express what he is seeing, thinking or feeling. Drawing pictures can improve over time especially in the focusing/concentration. Besides all colors have a meaning [such as sadness, anger, happiness, ect] and an extra insight into how Kevin is feeling/thinking would help you.
Now that Kevin is usnderstanding so much more ask him if he would like to give it a try as a way of getting things in his head out. Be sure to make certain that he only has to show them to those that he wants to. He ??Might?? even be willing to attend a class or two. {??maybe--fingers crossed}
You never know until you ask.

Just a suggestion.
