Day 235 - Jan 21, 2009

Nothing much happened today. Kevin was in an ok mood, but we basically stayed at the hospital for the most part. We are trying to get him to take part in activities with the other patients, but he wants nothing to do with it. He gets very upset when he doesn't do things 'right' and I am thinking that's the problem. We were playing "Shout" and because he can't really talk I think he was embarrassed. I'm not really sure though, but I am giving it my best guess. I just wish he would understand that everyone on our ward has problems...

Anyway, I am going to cut this short. Breezy just called and get this...wants to just drive past the stadium where the Super Bowl will be played. She's probably trying to devise a way to get in, lol.

Hopefully Kev will try to join in soon.

I wish there were some way to get ALL 3 OF YOU into the Superbowl! That would help with Kevin's spirits for sure!! I sure wish I knew how and with who to pull strings....

Kevin

Getting angry at yourself and or even being embarrassed is part of life AND a part of your healing and testing by God. Use that anger and the embarrassement as part of the access, improvise and implement. All that energy needs a good outlet and pouting isn't one of them.

Each of those Soldiers have been in that place also but they did NOT quit that's why they are doing quite well in their therapy. Go and find some of them. Get to know them as someone who could be your battle-buddy for from now on you will be in a battle to return to a full life. And, that's one battle you will and want to win.

You to the most part have only had your Mom and Sister around you. Now you are being placed in groups and you are realizing that the walk is really a lot harder. Look around in those groups and find out are there skateboarders there? Are there any who like the same musical groups you do? I wonder how many like cheese cake and would like to go get some with you? Would any of them like to get away from the hospital and ride around town?
**Some of these guys don't have anyone there to be with them. Maybe they are just as lonely as you are angry and would like to have someone just to be with them.
**Reach out Kevin because you can and that's what matters because you are NOT alone in this difficult walk. There is a Soldier that is walking down that road beside you, he needs your help like you need his.

Reach out Kevin and see who grasps your hand.

I sent a message on to the Post Gazette. They helped with Sarah getting to meet Georges Laraque of the Penguins. Keep your fingers crossed. Leslie, I will forward you a copy of what I sent so you can see it wasn't a "begging" request.

Leslie, it's Sharon. Me and Haleigh are coming down for the game and will be staying with my cousin in Sarasota. Zach is back at collee and can't make it. We would so love to see Kevin while we're there and you and Breezy also. If Breezy would like to spend some time with us doing "Stiller" thins that would be great. I have an itinerary from Thursday thru Sunday of goings on. Let me know. Take care!!! Sharon
