Day 77 - Aug 16, 2008

We got to go outside today!! Yes - we made it for about 20 mins and we were all just soaked with sweat so we came back into the air conditioning and put him in front of a huge expanse of windows for another 15 minutes or so and then we went back to our room. We made it to 2 1/4 hours in the chair today. YAY!! He did seem a little bit excited to be wheeled around the hospital in the chair, and his eyes were really wide when we went out into the courtyard. He mostly just looked up at the sky and the treetops.

Nothing much else really happened today so I am going to cut this one short. I had to run to Wal-Mart because I bumped and dumped a whole glass of Pepsi into my purse and had to buy a new one. Yep - had about an inch of soda and many ice cubes just laying there. Grrrr.... So I am running late tonight and just want to go to bed.

Looks like Kevin comes by his grumpiness honestly, eh? LOL!

Leslie,

Sounds like a really good day and hey...you got a new purse. ; )

Being outside in nature can brighten anyone's day. Sounds like he loves exploring the hospital and seeing some new sights. All great roads leading to a quicker recovery. He'll have you and Brianna racing him all over the hospital. She's such a good sister too.

I must tell you something. Tonight I watched the Olympics and watched Michael Phelps set Olympic history. He is the USA swimmer and tonight he won his 8 th gold medal. He is now called the Grandest Of All Olympic Champs.

If you look at Michael...HE LOOKS LIKE KEVIN. Michael's face is everywhere now and I kept thinking "who does he remind me of"...well tonight, when he was hugging his Mother in the stands, it just hit me. He looks like Kevin, he stands like Kevin and he smiles like Kevin.

Always in the stands you will find his Mother..cheering him on. She doesn't look like you, but by golly..she's always there..just like you with Kevin.

Having a very supportive Mother, like Michael Phelps AND Kevin..always by your side..

The possibilities are endless !!!

Stay Strong Leslie..Stay Strong

What a Happy Day Leslie, for both you and Kevin. Getting a new purse is fun. I also wanted you to know that I read Mended Wings every day. My heart goes out to you, Kevin and Breezy. I am so happy to hear that Kevin is able to get some fresh air and explore more than his room. Just remember that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs.

BRAVO! I am so happy that you were able to take Kevin into the sunshine, even though it was so hot! How wonderful!

And about the purse...I know it must have felt like a hassle...but hey, a new purse! :)

May God continue to bless you, Breezy and Kevin.

Love, hugs and prayers. Always.

Hi Les,
Just read through your last week's worth of posts as I was away all week taking Jason to college. How EXCITING to hear that you got to take Kevin outside, FANTASTIC! That had to boost his spirits a lot, and will surely help with his recovery.

I'm really looking forward to coming to Tampa to see you all, I'll finally be able to give you the huge hugs I've been storing up. :-)

Love you to pieces,
Joanie

Leslie, What a wonderful day honey. My prayers were answered for sure. I hope that he gets outside for fresh air everyday even if it is only for minutes. I bet you were exhusted mentally and physically. What a great day. Hope your new purse isn't a great big one like mine. It tires this old girl out. Praying and loving you. Pam

What wonderful news! I'm so glad that Kevin is able to get out of that bed for awhile.
I was wondering if he tries to communicate in any way, letting you know that he wants out of bed or whatever (if I missed that information, i apologize).
Always in our prayers, and with love,
the Stimacs

So glad to hear of Kevins good day. I pray that everyday is brighter and brighter for all of you. The other day i was going thru paintball equipment that has been stored in my garage. I noticed that on one mask was written"Kevins Mask" Of course I saved it for you. We think of all of you everyday and pray that God gives you all the strength you need to get thru this. God bless and take care. Diana Weibel and family.

Wow - a trip outside! That is great! So much progress every day. At times, it must seem stand still slow to you. But, when I read I marvel at how far Kevin has progressed (and thinking of how he will keep getting better and better!)

Thinking of you every day. Thanks again for keeping the blog, Leslie.
