Day 70 - Aug 9, 2008

Kevin slept all day today. I was there from 12-6 and I think he was awake maybe 10 minutes. I went back at 8:00 but left after an hour because he didn't stir at all. He is on pain killers so he probably won't wake back up until about midnight. I will call over then and make sure he is ok.

I want to quickly write that if anyone has any questions - please post them in a comment. I will try to answer the next night, but if I don't - ask again. Sometimes I am not too swift and forget, lol.

Also, if you are unsure of how to post a comment, just click on the word "comments" at the bottom of every post and you will be able to do so on the right side of the screen.

That's really about it for today. Oh - some of you have asked about Alan...he called Breezy at 4am today and is doing fine.

Now I am going to cut this short tonight and finish watching a movie that I started last night. Sometimes it takes me 3 nights to watch one because I fall asleep. I just hit pause and turn the tv off until the next night. Goodnight, everyone!

Hi. Just wanted to let you know that there are probably hundreds of people like me who read your post every single day, but don't comment. You are all in my prayers daily. My nephew just got back from his 2nd tour in Iraq. I wish all the soldiers could be safe and not have to go through what you & your family are. Your posts make me cry no matter what. I'm either sad with you or I cry because I'm happy when he has a good day. I'm a Mom too, & can't imagine watching your child go through so much. I was wondering if there is a way to play music for Kevin or if you already do. My kids are always playing music no matter what they are doing. It's a teenager thing. Maybe his favorite CD's would bring back some missing memories. I'm glad Kevin is lucky enough to have a Mom & Sister who love him so much. Linda from Ford City

I'm one of those hundreds who keeps a tab on my browser open to your blog and have been nearly a daily reader because I care.
(I suspect that blogger.com counts me as only one page view though.)
I thank you for sharing so much of your experience.

Me too, Leslie. I read this the first thing every morning, to check in to see how ALL three of you are and I can't wait for the day that Kevin says "I love you, Mom".
Tell him that the skateboard park stuff arrived. It's sitting in the middle of the road on the back of a truck, but it's here!
We love you guys,

Leslie,
Keep on Keeping on........You are Kevin's strength. I can't express how amazed I am at what you have had to watch go on with your son. I think I would have reached out and hit someone by now. How much more pain must this child endure??!! He has given More than anyone person should have to give and he has been put through WAY MORE than anyone should have to be put through. I continue to pray for all of you.
Love,
Theresa

Dear Leslie,
you have not received a comment from me for 6 days due to a computer glitz. I have read all the postings but have not been able to write you.
We love you all and we want you to take care of yourself. It is ok to ask for help in any way to keep you strong and healthy. Tell Kevin that we love and pray for him each day. One day at a time, sometimes, one second at a time- God bless you all.

Hey Leslie,
Glad to see Kev is still hangin' in there. Just a quick question. Any idea on how long until you go to tampa, stay in tampa, then dc, stay in dc, and then home? Pretty much, any idea yet on when Kev might possibly come home? Me and a few other military folk were thinking about flying home when Kev gets home as a salute to him. I know it's probably still out there but we're just trying to get an idea as far ahead as possible... even if it really isn't that accurate. We're all still praying for him and waiting to laugh with him again.

Hi just a note to say your in my thoughts and prayers. It's good that Kevin is sleeping and resting quietly hopefully that means he is not having any pain right now. I hope you got to finish your movie, I am notorious for falling asleep during them and don't have anything near as much as you do on your shoulders. prayers to all, will be checking in tomorrow take care and God Bless Kim

I hope Kevin slept peacefully with no pain. He had a big day! I'm still praying for huge improvements, but little steps are good, too. It's good to hear that Alan is OK, tell Breezy that he's in my prayers, too, as are all of you. Take care.

Now that you said something I have to leave a comment. I'm one of the ones who reads daily (although I probably shouldn't, because I am a military wife). I can not imagine what you are going through and wish nothing but the best for you and your family. You have an AWESOME support team to fall on when you have a bad day. Keep your head up and think positive every day. Everything happens for a reason and life will never throw you anything you can not handle.
