Day 1084 - May 18, 2011

Kevin and Johnny went to see Avenged Sevenfold in concert tonight and from what I am gathering - they had a blast! I personally opted to pass on the event, lol.

So yesterday while Kevin and I were preparing dinner, Kevin broke out in dance mode. I captured some of it on video and here it is:

Hilarious, huh? LOL!

I also got a bit from our dear baby. He is just talking so much now:

And in other news, unbelievably - the Vet Center called me today and told me that they (with a little prodding from a wonderful friend) have decided that they can help me. I was quite shocked and am relieved to think that there might finally be some help in sight. Although I am feeling somewhat less stressed and depressed, I know that it's only temporary relief as I have yet to deal with all that has happened to us.

The gentleman did stress though that they will ONLY help me with issues dealing with Kevin. My response? "What else is there?"

So I guess we'll see.

I should also mention that the organization 'Give An Hour' had approached me today as well to help with therapy. I am going to go to both and decide which is a better fit with my personality and with the issues at hand.

Wish me luck!

And now I gotta go vote for my cutie grandson...

Also enjoyed seeing Christian. Such a cutie! :) I need to remember to vote again as well.
It sounds like you have encouraging news with the Vet Center and also with Give an Hour. Hope everything works out nicely.
Have a great Thursday!

Loved the videos!! Kevin seems to be improving so much. Do you think Res Care is the reason?

So, so happy to hear you're going to be seen. You need an outlet and talking with a professional is such a help.

I couldn't help smiling while watching the video of Kevin. I think I might have learned some new dance moves! I'm so glad that you have Christian to add some sunshine to your day. He sure is a cutie. I hope that you are able to get some help from one of these agencies.

Great videos! Dancing is great therapy and who can resist Stayin' Alive? lol! How is Kevin's mouth feeling after his root canal?

I put in my vote for Christian! He's even cuter on video.

Hope you're able to get what you need from the Vet Center or the Give an Hour. You're in my thoughts and prayers. Take care!

You know, Leslie, I did therapy like other people did university. It is the best investment of time (and in my case money) that I ever made. 20 some years later, I am still getting new stuff out of that stint!

If you don't mind a little comment about the dude that said you can only deal with issues that pertain to Kevin. Ahem. I am going to keep my language clean and polite and I'm not going to address that directly ... but I guess from a constructive point of view, if the other option looks like a good solid one, without restrictions, it may be the better option.

Recently my husband and I saw a counselor together, mostly to deal with some issues around our relationship. This service is provided through his work, and you are only "allowed" to work on one issue at a time. This is like treating cancer without treating the accompanying nausea caused by chemo!

So if one of these offers is less restrictive than the other, I would encourage you to take that one. Especially if it is a cognitive, talk-based therapy as opposed to one that might default to a drug regime to mask understandable issues that have arisen from Kevin's injuries and the subsequent issues that have hit you.

best luck with it all! I hope both options are awesome and it is hard to choose for that reason alone! (and, you know, consider both ... try one first without saying no to the other prematurely to find the best fit).
