What is Mended Wings
This blog is dedicated to my son, Kevin, who was critically wounded in Afghanistan on May 31, 2008. My daughter, Brianna, and I left our homes and our lives to be by his side from that day forward.
Here is where you will learn of all of our accomplishments as well as the trials of his recovery of such serious injuries.
Although we have come through the acute stage of his burns, we are now focusing on the rehab for his brain injury. For those of you unaware, Kevin has lost nearly 85% of the function of the left side of his brain, causing him to not be able to do much (yet) with his right side and he can only say a few words so far. He also has to learn to write and he needs to remember everything in his past life.
Basically, we have 'started over'.

Thank you for sharing this....I am sitting here crying but they are happy tears. You have all traveled such a hard road and Kevin has come so far. I remember the first pictures....

I to am sitting her crying!!! This the the most heartwarming thing I have seen in a long time!! I am amazed and so proud at how far Kevin has come!!!! Its so great to see how his wonderful personality is still there after all he has gone through!!! Kevin you are an inspiration!! Keep up the great work!!!

I am so behind. I am sorry I am just now seeing the video of Kevin. I am amazed. For I remember my first seeing Kevin while he was still in ICU at BAMC, but you were allowed to wheel him in the big pink chair out to the front window on the 4th floor. Then, our trip in the car together a year later to Chickfila. And now, in this video, talking like crazy! He is nothing short of miraculous! Thank you to you and Kevin for sharing this. It is beautiful, as are all of you!

Thank you so much for this video. I have been following your blog since the beginning, and it is so inspiring to see how far he has come. It is amazing to see how his mind works. He might not be able to get it all out, but it's in there somewhere. Update us when you get a chance!
