What is Mended Wings
This blog is dedicated to my son, Kevin, who was critically wounded in Afghanistan on May 31, 2008. My daughter, Brianna, and I left our homes and our lives to be by his side from that day forward.
Here is where you will learn of all of our accomplishments as well as the trials of his recovery of such serious injuries.
Although we have come through the acute stage of his burns, we are now focusing on the rehab for his brain injury. For those of you unaware, Kevin has lost nearly 85% of the function of the left side of his brain, causing him to not be able to do much (yet) with his right side and he can only say a few words so far. He also has to learn to write and he needs to remember everything in his past life.
Basically, we have 'started over'.

Leslie, It's Sharon. Mine, Zach, and Haleigh's hearts and prayers are with you guys. The pics of Kev are great, hopefully we'll all get to see that Kev again. If we can do anything for your please give a buzz or email roseofsharon1@zoominternet.net. 724-525-2899. You know I keep remembering Zach's 16th bday when the cops caught the boys doing fireworks off the bridge at 3am. And Kevin hid up a tree in the boat launch. I was so mad at those boys, but I'll tell you, i'd give anything to have that day back. Take care!!!
I know it is hard but keep up the hope. Kevin is a fighter as far as i could ever see. He will keep on fighting. Again if you need anything i left my number or you can e-mail me at sandra16028@zoominternet.net. call or e-mail even if you just need someone to vent on..we are all praying for him.

Leslie, Please know that you are all in my heart and prayers. I thought I would have to leave church when I heard. I went to the store to talk to Moe. Hi Leslie, you dont know me but my boyfriend and I went to school with Kevin and are really good friends with him. I just wanted to let you know that I think about Kevin and your family everyday. Everytime I see Kev I run up and give him a hug. Kevin is a strong person and I know he can overcome this. I can't wait to see him again.

i just wanted to check in and tell you that i'm thinking about you...& sending you strength...
Les, Thinking about and praying for you all everyday. I truly wish I could be there with you for support. DW suggested sending you a care package-what do you need? Please let us know. I remember you showing me the one pic of Kev and the skate board and that really hit me hard. I will keep praying and I have lots of people around here adding Kev to the church prayer list. Be strong and know that the emotions you are feeling now are normal. It's part of the process. I love you and truly wish there was more that I could do for you. I read your blog and have been keeping updated about Kevin through Missy Bailey (she's a good friend). I met you numerous times at All-Stars and had Kev in class in 9th grade. He makes me laugh. He's so strong and has a great personality. I saw him before he shipped out when he stopped at the school to touch base with everyone.
There isn't a day that goes by that I don't pray for him. Your blog helps me to be more specific with my prayers and I hope that God gives him the ability to heal both emotionally and physically. Ducky told me two days ago about your brother. I am very very sorry to hear that he was in an attack and suffers major wounds. I just read todays Butler Eagle and on front page a write up about Kevin and also continued on page five. I saw there is a web site to be able to read your mom's updates on Kevin. I am very much hear for you. If I can do anything at all please let me know. My prayers go to you ,your mom and your brother. with all my love to know you Donna Scherer
Leslie and breezy,Just wanted you to know Kevin,You and Breezy are all in our prayers and everyones in East Brady. I remember when he was young and so sweet,so very proud of him! love KAY AND WHITEY CRISSMAN
I camp in East brady, live in Butler and I have been to the EB Riverside when Kevin was working.
Its a heart breaking tragedy that one so young has been hurt so bad.
Our freinds in Brady are hoping and praying for the best.
