Day 237 - Jan 23, 2009

I am signing in a little early tonight as Kevin is ensconced in my bed at the Fisher House for the night and I don't want to make a lot of noise too late. Yay!

It was a little scary at first because he was determined to go back to the hospital and not sleep here, but I told him that there was no nurse for him because she was sent home because he was staying here. It worked, but I was really worried.

And today we had a vision test. Kevin has lost all peripheral vision on his right side in his right eye. I pretty much already knew that because he can have something sitting right next to him and he doesn't see it at all. They did tell me he isn't color blind though so we just need to teach him his colors again, I guess. Other than that, his vision is way better than mine, lol. He could see clearly down to the smallest numbers.

So now I am going to leave you all with some photos. The first is Kevin walking today. The second was just taken moments ago of him sleeping.

Hi Les,

Don't worry, everything will go fine tonight! :-) Just wait, you won't be able to get him to go back to the hospital at night after staying home at mom's! LOL.

The pictures are awesome!!!!! Thank you so much for posting them!

Loved the pictures;his progress is
truly an inspiration to everyone.
I check your blog everyday with my
5 year old granddaughter and she
loves when you post pictures of Kevin. She sees things in such a positive light that I wish most adults could see life through a child's eyes.
From the first picture till now she is always telling us to look how Kevin is smiling,or look how Kevin is gaining weight. She laughs
when we read that Kevin has done something silly, and she tells her friends when he does something new.
Basically Kevin has become somewhat of a hero in this little one's life and well,I can't think of anyone better to teach her and others how to be strong, and brave.
Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.

How exciting for both of you and what a milestone! I'm praying all will go smoothly tonight, and it looks like Kevin didn't have trouble falling asleep, which is good. Great news about his vision, too, other than the peripheral loss.

Great work, Kevin! Keep taking it one step at a time and you'll be walking on your own in no time.

Leslie,

This is what we've all prayed for. God is answering all of our prayers as we watch Kevin progress.

Prayers are the best gifts we can send, but look at how the gift of prayer has so greatly brought this boy to where he is today..with your determination by his side.

I like what Kim has shared with us about her little Granddaughter. "Through the eyes of a child"...

Prayers still coming your way, as always. That's why we came here, to be of support.

God Bless you all.

Jodi, you took the words out of my mouth. LOL They hate to give up the remote, even when they're unconcious.

Hoping it was a peaceful night for both of you....

Leslie and Kevin,

Well the first overnight pass looks like it went well.

Congrats to the both of you.

I hope that this happens more often.

Kevin, this is the beginning of you being able to live in your own houme and driving your 'Big Blue' m-van. It's a big step in the little steps that you have been taking lately.
Kevin, keep charging ahead with re-educating your body and mind for each day you are becoming yourself once again. And THAT A GOOD THING.

accept, improvise, and impliment

That's the order of the day.
