Day 220 - Jan 6, 2009

Ronnie left today. He and Kevin had a great time together and I could really tell how much Kev responded to the 'guy' talk. Ronnie went in this morning and spent the whole day up there and I stayed away to give them time to themselves and I guess Kevin had a truly great day. The nurse couldn't believe how well he did with all of his therapies and everything.

And I got a chuckle out of his physical therapist asking him if he would walk today and he held up two of his fingers as if to say he won't attempt it until his surgery is done in two days. I told him that he wasn't going to be able to just get up the next day and walk and he basically told me that he could and would. Knowing him - he probably will.

So not much else happened. And before I end, someone asked if I could post a quick message on the day of Kevin's surgery to let y'all know what happened and I will do it as quickly as I can. It means me leaving the hospital so I can't guarantee it. I will just have to see how things go.

And for a Breezy update - she is having a good time being home, but she did get sick. I guess she just can't handle those cold winters anymore, lol. Love ya, Breeze!! And we sure miss you!!

Maybe just give someone a call who has access to the blog (Breezy, maybe?) and they can do a quick post to let us know how everything went. I know we're all wanting to know how things go on surgery day but if you need to be at the hospital, then definitely stay at the hospital and with Kevin. Your son needs you more than we need a post (but I'm sure you know that) but a quick 'headsup' would be appreciated I'm sure by all.

Really great to hear that his therapy went so well today! That's such great news, and I'm glad that Kevin is aware of the upcoming surgery and looking forward to getting into action afterward. That's really positive thinking and that's great. :D

Alison that is a great idea. I recall Breezy made a post in the comment section when they all arrived in Florida and Leslie could not leave the hospital for 2 days (? I think it was ).
So we all could check in the comment section until the full update is able to be added.

Happy Kevin enjoyed his guy time with his friend and that he has such a good attitude about this upcoming surgery.

Was thinking the same thing as Alison, someone with access could write in or someone could submit a comment. All of you will be in prayers tomorrow, that's for darn sure.

You can actually post to your blog straight from your cell phone with a text message. Just do the following to set it up:

1) Go to your "Dashboard"
2) Select "Settings"
3) Select EMail
4) Under the "Mail to Blogger" type in a word (A lot of people use the word post but you may want to make it something only you would use to prevent other people from posting to the blog)
5) Select Publish immediately
6) Save Settings

To send a message to the blog do the following:
1) Create a new text message. The "To" field will be the e-mail address in the "Mail to Blogger" field (for example, if you used the word post it would be lesliekamm.post@blogger.com)
2) Type your message
3) Send text message
It will automatically show up on your blog.

Hope that helps! Kevin and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers!

I will be thinking and praying for you, Breezey, and Kevin tomorrow as he undergoes the surgery to replace his skull. I hope that it solves many of the problems that he has been facing lately. Hopefully soon he can come home to stay for good and you can really start your new life in Florida.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Another step on Kevin's road - Great to hear he has a positive attitude!

Just a thought that came to me last night - is it possible that the shunt is not working properly because of the air bubbles in Kevin's CF? Now, I don't know the first thing about this, but I know when you try to start a siphon and keep it going, air bubbles will stop it every time. Like I said, I don't know anything about shunts and such, but might be a question to ask.
Hugs to Kevin !

I'll be praying that all goes well tomorrow. That's great that Kevin has a positive attitude about the surgery. He must be so sick of the fluid problems that he'd do anything to fix it! Let us know whenever you can how it all turns out. I'll be thinking of you both.
